Obama’s Dream Cabinet (IMHO)

Editor’s note: Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile, but life’s obligations seemed more important.

If Sen. Barack Obama can pull of a win in the election next Tuesday, I have some suggestions for his Dream Cabinet. Please note that this is my opinion and includes a little satire. Also, some of these postings, while also being good for the country, would play off of President Johnson’s philosophy of “I’d rather have them in my tent pissing out than outside pissing in.” Additionally, some of these aren’t actual cabinet positions, but instead are administrative appointments.

  1. Secretary of Defense: General Colin Powell (duh!)
  2. Secretary of the Treasury: Dave Ramsey (yes, THAT Dave Ramsey!)
  3. National Security Advisor: Sen. John McCain (a perfect post for him)
  4. Secretary of State: Sen. Hillary Clinton
  5. Administrator of the Small Business Administration: Gov. Mitt Romney
  6. Chairmain of the SEC: Warren Buffett (the “Conscience of Wall Street”)
  7. Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Rep. John Murtha (yes, he’s said some dumb things, but this is a good post for him)
  8. Chairman of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
  9. Attorney General: Sen. Fred Thompson (oh, why the hell not! He plays a great D.A. on TV.)

This is a work in progress and will be updated as I think of more

I agree with some of your choices….

    • Sec of Defense: I think that Colin Powell, at 71, probably wouldn’t want to go back to work; and Gates would be an ok to continue for a while. But I like Gen. W. Clark for this job..
    • Secretary of the Treasury: My pick would be Gov. Corzine of NJ. He seems pretty good with money.
    • National Security Advisor: Richard Clark, always liked his honesty. Plus he was correct on so many things that W. wouldn’t listen to…
    • Secretary of State: Sen. Hillary Clinton; she would make a pretty good Sec of State, but I kind of like Dick Lugar for this spot.
    • Administrator of the Small Business Administration: Gov. Mitt Romney – this is a good choice and like they say, “You want to keep your friends close; but you want to keep your enemies closer”.
    • Chairmain of the SEC: Warren Buffett (the “Conscience of Wall Street”) – I like this choice.
    • Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Rep. John Murtha – Another good choice, or John McCain; maybe he’d learn how to treat Vet’s better.
    • Chairman of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. I like Caroline Kennedy better for this spot. RFK jr. definitely would be a better head of the EPA.
    • Attorney General: Sen. Fred Thompson (oh, why the hell not! He plays a great D.A. on TV.) That’s pretty funny… I actually like Hillary for this job. I think she go after people tooth and nail and by the book.

I love your idea for National Security Advisor! That’s awes0me. Clarke is intelligent and seems to have a conscience.

Putting John McCain in charge of the VA would really upset a lot of veterans, and Obama needs their support.

Hillary would be an awesome Atty. General.

Unfortunately, I think Dick Lugar has refused a spot on Pres. Obama’s cabinet.

  3. LOL @ Thompson why the ‘ell not?!
